^8 (E)Are you better than ^(F)Thebes^[a]
    that sat ^(G)by the Nile,
with water around her,
    her rampart a sea,
    and water her wall?
^9 (H)Cush was her strength;
    Egypt too, and that without limit;
    ^(I)Put and the ^(J)Libyans were her^[b] helpers.
